Mesa College STEM faculty will host demonstrations promoting physical sciences, including sun telescope viewing, catapult building, bridge engineering - all culminating with an exciting Exploding Volcano Demonstration!
What can take your fun day at the science center to the next level? Genius in the House! This event brings brainiacs from fields such as biology, art, engineering, mathematics and more to the Fleet to enhance the exhibit experience. This is a casual event in the exhibit galleries, not a lecture, so you'll have the chance to chat with the genius and ask questions. Explore themes from our exhibitions in ways that are both insightful and delightful.
Students from Sweetwater Unified High School district invite you to this free community event designed to inspire a love of STEM in people of all ages! This edition of Fleet Night of Science will celebrate the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering and the Fleet's newest exhibition, MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition.
Bust popular myths through exciting experiments. Try to dodge a paint ball, find out what keeps you drier: running or walking through the rain, channel your inner action hero by hanging off a cliff and much more.
Drinks and food will be available for purchase.
Join the Fleet Science Center and the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering for an especially “spirited” event. On Saturday, March 10, some of San Diego’s finest bartenders and local scientists will come together at San Diego’s iconic False Idol to help us understand what it takes to concoct the perfect cocktail. Using fluid dynamics, chemical reactions and physics to create amazing drinks, bartender and scientist will converge in the attempt to dazzle your tastebuds.
Partnering with Wavelength Brewery, two faculty from the College of Science and Mathematics at California State University San Marcos will engage audiences and discuss their current research at a local brewery in Vista Village. Get ready to learn and ask questions!

Explore interactive demonstrations and hands-on science activities at Super STEM Saturday, including rocket launches, build-a-robot stations, model displays, scientist chats and a obstacle course. The event is free and open to the public. Complimentary parking available in Lots E, F, and H.
What sounds like the beginning of a rather bad joke is actually a fun community program by the Fleet Science Center. During Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar™, local scientists will enjoy something we all do: a good conversation in a local bar. Join them, and ask them anything you want! They'll be easy to spot. Just look for the sign that reads: "We are scientists. Ask us anything!"
We love hearing the questions being asked and seeing pictures of all the fun, so if you participate, be sure to post on social media, and tag the Fleet and use the hashtag #2scientists.
The Urban Growth team invites you to discover the world of hydroponics and urban farming. Learn about unique engineering designs that help you conserve water and grow food almost anywhere!
