"Theory" Does Not Mean What You Think It Means!

Challenge yourself and those around you by debunking myths and misconceptions about science with two of the foremost – and fun – people on the subject!
A dynamic workshop led by Dr. Kiki Sanford and Dr. Stanley Maloy for anyone looking to better understand some of the misconceptions behind science and how students learn.
Presenters:
Dr. Kiki Sanford
"Dr. Kiki," produces and appears in a number of science education programs, including the This Week in Science radio show/podcast, which she founded in 1999.
Dr. Kiki says of her work, "My shtick is Dr. Kiki reaches out to people who don’t necessarily like science to get them to see it as something enjoyable. My goal is to get people who maybe flunked chemistry or didn’t do well on their science fair project to say, ‘This is really interesting.’
Dr. Stanley Maloy
After earning a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of California at Irvine, Stanley did postdoctoral work in Genetics at the University of Utah, then joined the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign faculty in 1984 where he was ultimately became the Professor and Director of the Biotechnology Center
In August, 2002 he moved to San Diego State University as founding Director of the Center for Microbial Sciences and Professor of Biology.
